Job summary

Kinsley Steel, Inc. is seeking a Lead Field Surveyor to join our on-site team and ensure precision in steel construction projects. You will collect data, verify elevations, and provide as-built drawings to support column placement and anchor rod locations.

Ideal candidates have experience with structural steel erection and surveying tools such as total stations, Trimble, and CAD. This role requires field travel and strict adherence to safety and quality standards on job sites.

Qualifications

• Experience with structural steel erection preferred.
• Experience surveying slopes/grades/wall lines for miscellaneous metals.
• Knowledge of total station or similar surveying equipment.
• Willingness to travel to field sites.
• Ability to work at heights and follow safety protocols.
• Understanding of AISC requirements for building orientation and alignment.
• Excellent attention to detail for accurate data collection.
• Strong communication and teamwork with onsite trades.

Responsibilities

• Use surveying equipment to collect and present accurate data for field use.
• Promote safety culture while prioritizing Safety, Quality, and Production.
• Travel to job sites for data collection.
• Verify elevation and alignment of embeds; provide as-built drawings.
• Use Trimble, Bluebeam, CAD, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Deliver information for column and steel installation alignment.
• Maintain building plumbness and square; coordinate with other trades.
• Assist with miscellaneous steel placement such as monumental stair and shaft steel.
• Coordinate crane beam install and steel that correlates other trades work.
