Job summary

Qualdoc in Cocoa Beach, FL is seeking a Structural Steel Quality Inspector for a contract-to-hire role on the 2nd shift. You will inspect fabricated structural steel components, verify dimensions against shop drawings, and document quality issues to ensure compliance with AWS D1.1 and D1.5 standards.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in steel layout and fabrication, can read drawings, and maintains strict attention to detail in a shop environment. AWS D1.1/D1.5 certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in steel layout and fabrication.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, construction drawings, and shop prints.
• Experience inspecting fabricated structural steel components preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• AWS welding certification in D1.1 and/or D1.5 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document daily inspections of fabricated steel in an AISC-certified facility.
• Inspect structural steel components for compliance with shop drawings, dimensions, and specifications.
• Verify part placement, layout, and dimensional accuracy.
• Complete in-process and final quality inspections.
• Identify, document, and follow up on nonconforming materials or workmanship.
• Support annual AISC quality control audits.
• Work with production personnel to resolve inspection findings and improve product quality.
• Follow established inspection procedures and quality standards, including applicable AWS D1.1 and D1.5 requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
