Qualdoc is seeking a detail-oriented Structural Steel QC Inspector / Fabrication Quality Specialist in Richmond, VA. The role focuses on evaluating structural steel fabrication in an AISC-certified facility and involves collaboration with production teams to address quality concerns.

Starting pay is $31.00/hour with potential for higher pay based on experience; 2nd shift adds a $3.00/hour differential. Contract-to-hire opportunity with first- and second-shift options.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in structural steel layout and fabrication.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication and construction drawings.
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication practices and quality standards.
• Welding certification in AWS D1.1 and/or D1.5 is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Inspect structural steel components throughout fabrication and upon completion.
• Identify, document, and report nonconformances in accordance with AWS D1.1 and D1.5 standards.
• Compare fabricated materials with shop drawings and project specifications.
• Perform in-process and final quality checks, including dimensional layout and part placement.
• Assist with annual AISC quality control audits.
• Collaborate with production teams to investigate and resolve quality concerns.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and fabrication process consistency.
