Job summary

Qualdoc in Richmond, VA is seeking a Quality Inspector to verify fabricated structural steel meets drawings and quality standards. Senior-level candidates with strong experience in structural steel fitting or fabrication may be considered.

Expect 1st or 2nd shift, with starting pay of $31.00/hour and an additional $3.00/hour for 2nd shift. Responsibilities include inspecting components throughout production, checking dimensions against shop drawings, documenting nonconformances per AWS

Qualifications

3-5 years of experience in structural steel fabrication, layout, or quality inspection.
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, construction drawings, and technical specs.
Knowledge of AWS D1.1 and D1.5 welding standards.
Welding certification in D1.1 and/or D1.5 is preferred.
Senior-level fitters/fabricators may be considered.

Responsibilities

Inspect fabricated steel components throughout production and before final release.
Check dimensions against shop drawings and specifications.
Identify, document, and help resolve quality issues and nonconformances under AWS D1.1 and D1.5 requirements.
Perform in-process and final quality checks.
Work with production teams to correct defects and maintain fabrication quality.
Support quality improvement efforts and annual AISC quality control audits.
