Piedmont Metals is a full-service Structural Steel Fabricator based in Burlington, North Carolina. We are a 3rd generation metal fabrication facility, specializing in OEM component parts/weldments primarily in the ship building, railcar, and heavy equipment industries. We have supplied fabricated steel across the U.S.

since 1954. Experienced Layout/Fabricator is sought to lay out, read drawings/specs, and fabricate structural steel components using standard welding practices.

Qualifications

• D.1.1 test and fabrication test is required and performed at the site.
• Experience in welding/fitting.
• Experience in structural steel welding preferred.
• Able to read and interpret blueprints and read a tape line.

Responsibilities

• Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
