Qualdoc in Arlington, TN is seeking a skilled Structural Steel Fitter/Fabricator to prepare, fit, and assemble steel components in a fabrication shop. You will interpret technical drawings, perform precise measurements, and operate fabrication machinery safely to produce quality steel assemblies.

This role requires 2+ years of structural steel experience, the ability to read blueprints and weld symbols, and a teamwork mindset.

Qualifications

Two or more years in structural steel fitting or fabrication.
Ability to read structural blueprints and weld symbols.
Experience with layout, measurement, cut and assembly processes.
Familiarity with shop equipment and fabrication tools.
Able to stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials.
Strong attention to detail and safety.

Responsibilities

Review structural steel blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols, and layout specifications.
Measure, mark, cut, fit, and assemble steel components, including beams, columns, stairs, railings, and miscellaneous metalwork.
Operate fabrication equipment such as ironworkers, magnetic drills (mag drills), band saws, grinders, oxy-fuel torches, and plasma cutters.
Prepare steel components and tack assemblies for welding and subsequent production steps.
Safely operate overhead cranes and rigging equipment and use proper rigging techniques.
Check dimensions, alignment, squareness, and fit-up accuracy before welding.
Use appropriate measuring instruments, hand tools, and shop machinery to complete fabrication tasks.
Maintain an orderly work area and follow safety procedures while meeting production deadlines.
