Job summary

Schuff Steel Co. seeks a skilled Fitter to join our Texas fabrication team, assembling and fitting structural steel per drawings for complex commercial, bridge, and industrial projects.

You will read blueprints, lay out lines, weld, grind, and finish parts to exact tolerances, while maintaining a clean, safe workspace and following PPE rules.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma with 12 months experience.
• Must pass fitter test.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Ability to write routine reports and communicate with supervisor.
• Mathematics basics for proportion, area and geometry.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets blueprints and plans the fitting operation.
• Directs handling and fitting of material per drawings and notes.
• Fits and assembles materials, using bolts, pins, and fasteners.
• Welds, copes, bevels, and finishes materials as required.
• Maintains clean and organized work area and adheres to safety PPE rules.
