Job summary

Schuff Steel is seeking a skilled Fitter to assemble and fit structural components for complex projects in the commercial building and bridge sectors. You will read blueprints, lay out, and fit parts, welding and finishing as required, while maintaining a safe, organized shop environment.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of fitting experience, with proficiency in blueprint interpretation and basic welding techniques. Competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 12 months of experience in fitting/assembly.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret fit requirements.
• Ability to follow safety rules and PPE procedures.

Responsibilities

• Receives instructions, prints, sketches, and work orders.
• Reads and interprets blueprints and plans the fitting operation.
• Assembles material and checks fit according to drawings; places bolts and fasteners.
• Lays out work lines, checks and marks connections, ensures conformity to drawings.
• Cuts, welds, grinds, and cleans components as needed.
• Maintains clean and organized work area and adheres to safety rules.
