Job summary

Greene Resources in Wilson, NC is seeking a Structural Steel Fabricator to join a growing team. You will fit, fabricate and weld structural components per blueprints and shop drawings, ensuring accurate fit-up and tolerances.

Responsibilities include reading AutoCAD/shop drawings, cutting with plasma/oxy-acetylene, and operating welding equipment and material-handling gear. Overtime may be required and AWS D1.1 test is required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of structural fitting and fabrication experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Welding experience (MIG and Stick) as part of fabrication.
• Pass AWS D1.1 welding qualification/test.
• Able to lift 50+ lbs and operate basic shop equipment.
• Willing to work overtime and pass a company drug test.

Responsibilities

• Fit and fabricate structural steel components including tubes, angles, channels, and plate.
• Read and interpret blueprints, AutoCAD drawings, shop drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions.
• Accurately measure, lay out, align, square, and fit components to dimensions and tolerances.
• Prepare components for welding and ensure proper fit-up and alignment.
• Perform structural welding as needed to complete assemblies.
• Identify and correct poor fit-up, dimensional issues, and defective welds.
• Cut and prepare metal using plasma cutters and oxy-acetylene equipment.
• Set up and operate welding equipment for various materials and thicknesses.
• Safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts; maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Work independently and maintain production standards with minimal supervision.
• Perform basic mathematical calculations for fabrication and fit-up.
