Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metal fabrication projects. You will review drawings, perform quantity takeoffs, obtain vendor pricing, and develop bid proposals in collaboration with engineering, fabrication, and purchasing teams.

The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with Excel and estimating software.

Qualifications

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail when reviewing quantities, pricing, and project requirements.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and requirements.
Perform accurate material quantity takeoffs and labor estimates.
Solicit, review, and compare quotations from vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Prepare detailed cost estimates, bid summaries, and proposal documents.
Maintain estimating spreadsheets, databases, and historical cost information.
Coordinate with engineering, fabrication, and purchasing teams to validate pricing and estimate accuracy.
Identify project risks, scope clarifications, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities.
Maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and subcontractors throughout the bidding process.
