Job description

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Structural Senior Design Engineer position to support an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project.

Work Location: Houston, TX

Responsibilities
  • Serve as an Area Lead providing guidance and supervision to engineers and designers under the supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer.
  • Analyze and recommend technical solutions for complex problems in accordance with project requirements.
  • Develop and review specifications and design criteria.
  • Perform engineering analyses and calculations, specify materials, and solve technical problems of advanced complexity.
  • Coordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients.
  • Ensure work complies with Project Quality Plan and procedures, and aligns with project scope, cost, and schedule baselines.
  • Develop and review estimates, schedules, and progress reports, including effort-hour estimation and staff forecasting.
  • Establish and report on material quantities, providing analysis and forecasts.
  • Support procurement activities, including technical bid evaluations and review of vendor submittals.
  • Assist with construction administration, including responses to RFI and field changes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and at least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer license.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Effective communication skills with diverse audiences.
  • Technical expertise in discipline codes, standards, and large EPC project execution.
  • Proficiency in engineering analysis, 3D modeling, and CAD tools.
Discipline-Specific Skills
  • Advanced skills in structural calculations, including foundations, concrete, and steel structures.
  • Experience with STAAD, STAADPro, RISA3D, and Mathcad.
  • Knowledge of wind and seismic loading analyses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of material costs and availability.
  • Experience with nuclear facilities and ASME NQA-1 standards.
  • Leadership experience managing large projects.
  • Field experience and EPC project background in relevant industries.
Other Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.
