Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager – Structural to blend hands-on engineering with client-facing leadership. You will lead structural design for low- to mid-rise buildings across healthcare, commercial, education, government, and industrial markets.

You will manage scope, schedule, and budget while growing SSR’s presence in key markets. The role emphasizes client relationships, high-quality delivery, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Technical or Bachelor’s degree in a major engineering discipline with four years of project experience.
  • Ten years of practical experience on similar projects.
  • Professional Engineer licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural projects as a hands-on engineer and client-facing project manager.
  • Plan and execute structural scope for new buildings and renovations, including gravity and lateral systems.
  • Direct analysis and design to current codes (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC).
  • Coordinate structural drawings, models, and specs in Revit/BIM with architects and multi-discipline teams.
  • Manage structural assessment projects for existing buildings, including site investigations and condition assessments.
  • Develop technical reports and calculations that clearly communicate complex concepts to clients.
  • Serve as primary client contact, managing expectations and cultivating long-term relationships.
  • Assist with business development and capture planning, and support proposal development.
  • Plan budgets, staffing, and schedules to meet revenue and profitability targets.
  • Coordinate with subconsultants and ensure quality and timely delivery.
  • Provide construction phase services and mentor junior engineers.
  • Contribute to SSR’s structural standards and ongoing professional development.
