Job Description

GPLA, part of the DPR Family of Companies, is hiring a Structural Project Manager to oversee projects from conceptual design to construction completion, ensuring structural components are designed, modeled, detailed, and delivered in accordance with project scope, budget, and schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Mentor and manage Structural Designers I & II, Structural Design Engineers, and Structural Project Engineers.
  • Oversee production of drawings, specifications, and calculations throughout the project’s design life cycle.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans defining objectives, scope, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Collaborate with design and construction teams to assess structural requirements and estimate resources.
  • Manage construction administration tasks: review shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, conduct site visits.
  • Develop structural designs and analytical models for various building types and materials.
  • Perform and review calculations and analyses to ensure structural integrity and compliance with building codes.
  • Utilize CAD software (e.g., Tekla Structures) to create 2D drawings and 3D models.
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure effective collaboration among team members.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders such as architects, contractors, and MEP designers.
  • Lead project design meetings, set agendas, take notes, and provide meeting minutes.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, code updates, and advancements in structural design techniques.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and efficiency enhancement.
  • Monitor project costs, track expenses, and manage the project budget, including monthly status reports.
  • Invoice and pursue payment; identify and pursue change orders when necessary.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to team members.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of structural engineering principles, codes, and standards.
  • Familiarity with structural design and analysis, materials, and construction techniques.
  • Ability to act as a subject‑matter expert (SME) within the company.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong accuracy in reviewing design plans and documentation.
  • Team collaboration, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
  • Adaptability to make informed decisions and adjust plans amid changes.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and structural engineering tools.
  • Commitment to staying updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • Project management experience, including planning, organizing, and executing projects.
  • Knowledge of financial and budgeting principles to track and manage project costs.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a structural focus (minimum).
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred.
  • Eight years of experience in building structural engineering.
  • Maintain an NCEES record for licensure.
Physical Requirements

Ability to sit or stand at a desk for prolonged periods; travel to site visits across the country; lift a minimum of 15 pounds if required.

Salary and Benefits
  • Anticipated starting pay range: $135,000.00–$190,000.00.
