Job summary

Thornton Tomasetti in San Francisco is seeking a Structural Project Engineer to join the Renewal Practice. The candidate should have experience with a wide range of building vintages, retrofit work for historic and modern construction, and tenant renovations in a consulting engineering setting.

Responsibilities include structural repair, seismic retrofit, renovation planning, and coordinating project teams while communicating with clients to capture requirements.

Qualifications

• PE/SE license preferred.
• 4 years minimum experience.
• Experience with existing buildings for renovation is a plus.
• Willingness to travel within the US and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural engineering services with emphasis towards existing buildings such as structural repair, seismic retrofit, renovation, emergency stabilization, and expansion of existing buildings.
• Perform onsite assessment and data collection of existing buildings of all vintages and construction materials to support a range of evaluation and design based structural engineering services.
• Assist in the direction, coordination, planning, organization, integration, and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility.
• Communicate with clients to understand project requirements.
• Plan and formulate engineering program and organize project staff according to project requirements.
• Manage other design team members and supervise the work of engineers and draft persons.
