Job summary

IMEG, a 100% employee-owned firm, seeks a Structural Project Engineer in Raleigh, NC. You will lead design efforts as project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects, guiding junior staff and coordinating with senior staff on larger work.

You will deliver engineering solutions, perform analyses, and oversee structural design for buildings and other structures, while contributing to planning, budgeting, and cross-functional coordination with a diverse project roster

Qualifications

BS in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering required.
Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
2 years minimum experience, 4 preferred in building design consulting.
Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts for technical plans and specifications.
Strong technical and analytical skills including mechanics and materials, load paths, and design standards.
Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff.
Proficiency in industry standard engineering software and tools including structural design and analysis software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly in writing and speech.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Eagerness to adapt to new challenges.
Proficiency in BIM software.
MS Office Suite proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays.

Responsibilities

Lead analysis and design of structural systems for various building materials.
Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations per code and IMEG standards.
Collaborate with clients to understand needs and build relationships.
Support consulting-project execution as part of a project team.
Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines.
Document design decisions and monitor progress against cost and time.
Analyze problems and develop practical structural solutions with senior staff.
Provide in-process design reviews of designs, calculations, and specs.
Implement IMEG quality control processes to meet standards.
Stay current on industry trends and contribute to innovation efforts.
Prioritize safety and ethical work, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Identify project risks and support bidding, design, and construction phases.
