Job summary

IMEG is seeking a Structural Project Engineer to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects from Raleigh, NC or Norfolk, VA. The role includes mentoring, budget and schedule oversight, and collaboration with senior staff to deliver structural solutions for varied markets.

You will work with a Southeast-focused structural team on public-sector, education, healthcare, and commercial projects, while supporting sustainable design goals and IMEG

Qualifications

• BS in Civil/Structural or Architectural Eng, or equivalent.
• PE License required.
• 2 years minimum experience; 4+ preferred in building design consulting.
• Proficiency in design techniques and code-based calculations.
• Ability to mentor junior staff.
• Experience with structural software and BIM tools.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Lead analysis and design of structural systems for projects.
• Create detailed designs, specs, and calculations per codes.
• Collaborate with clients, gather requirements, and build relationships.
• Support project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Provide in-process design reviews and QC checks.
• Mentor staff and contribute to cross-functional teams.
• Stay current with industry trends and innovation.
• Ensure safety and ethical professional conduct.
