You will join our Dams Group

As our new Structural Engineer in the Dams Group, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary staff and support structural design including investigations, analysis, design, and construction phase engineering related to Dam Safety, waterfront improvements or redevelopment, and other heavy civil projects. Assignments include writing inspection/investigation reports, performing stress and stability analyses, developing design concepts for concrete, steel, and wood structures, and preparing final structural details, plans, and specifications.

Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:

• Evaluating and analyzing dams, intakes, outlet works, hydraulic conveyance, appurtenant structures, pump houses, valve chambers, operational/control buildings, powerhouse equipment, waterfront structures, bulkheads, concrete and steel earth-retaining structures, cofferdams, shoring, pile caps, and foundations.
• Conducting structural inspections and field activities at project sites.
• Compiling data and producing reports on inspections, design basis, data/results presentation, and analysis summaries.
• Assisting in developing design concepts, criteria, analysis methods, alternative evaluations, and constructability reviews.
• Preparing detailed design calculations, technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and participating in QA/QC and value engineering reviews.
• Engaging in technical societies to stay current with standards, practices, and emerging technologies.

Your starting point for growth

• BSc in Civil/Structural Engineering
• Registered Professional Engineer (or on track for licensure)
• 5+ years of experience in structural design, including reinforced concrete, steel frames, bulkheads, piers, cofferdams, shoring systems
• Knowledge of major design codes, standards, and best practices
• Experience with Excel, CAD, and analysis software

Preferred additional experience:

• Design of gravity dams, retaining walls, gatehouses, outlet works, hydraulic structures
• Post-tensioned systems, heavy civil, waterfront structures
• Familiarity with dam safety guidelines (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation, FERC)
• Software skills: STAAD PRO, GT STRUDL, Mathcad, Enercalc, VBA, Matlab
