Job summary

LVI Associates in Portland, Oregon seeks a Structural Project Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team. You will work from early concepts through construction, delivering structural designs and analysis across diverse Pacific Northwest projects.

We value strong communication, PE licensure, and 4–6 years of experience, with hybrid in-office Tuesday–Thursday and remote Mondays/Fridays. This role offers growth and collaboration across architects and engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 4–6 years of structural engineering experience.
• Knowledge of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry design.
• Experience coordinating and assembling construction document packages.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Enjoys working directly with people, not just calculations.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural designs from conceptual planning through construction
• Perform gravity and lateral analysis for a variety of project types
• Coordinate directly with architects and multidisciplinary design teams
• Prepare structural calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documents
• Participate in site visits and construction-phase services
• Manage your own projects and help guide junior staff as needed

Not every structural engineering role gives you the opportunity to work directly alongside architects, interior designers, civil engineers, landscape architects, and MEP engineers under one roof.

We're looking for a Structural Project Engineer who wants to be involved in the entire project lifecycle, from early concepts and client discussions through construction and project completion. This is an opportunity to work on a diverse mix of projects throughout the Pacific Northwest while continuing to grow both technically and professionally.

What You'll Be Doing

• Develop structural designs from conceptual planning through construction
• Perform gravity and lateral analysis for a variety of project types
• Coordinate directly with architects and multidisciplinary design teams
• Prepare structural calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documents
• Participate in site visits and construction-phase services
• Manage your own projects and help guide junior staff as needed

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• PE license required
• 4-6 years of structural engineering experience
• Strong understanding of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry design
• Working knowledge of ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and related design standards
• Experience coordinating and assembling construction document packages
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Someone who enjoys working directly with people, not just behind a calculation package

Nice to Have

• Master's Degree in Structural Engineering
• Experience with manufacturing, industrial, or semiconductor facilities
• Strong steel design background
• Experience collaborating directly with clients and contractors
