Job summary

Austin Industries in Clinton, IA is seeking an Ironworker to raise, place and unite girders, columns and other structural steel members to form the framework of new structures.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, setting up hoisting equipment, fastening members to hoist lines, guiding placement, aligning holes, and securing components by bolts or welds. Journeyman level experience (3–5 years) is required.

Qualifications

• Journeyman-level experience required: 3–5 years.
• Experience reading blueprints and selecting materials.
• Familiar with rigging, hoisting and securement of steel members.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and select required material for construction.
• Set up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members.
• Fasten steel members to hoist cables using chain, cable or rope.
• Guide structure being lifted and align rivet holes.
• Bolt or weld structures and verify alignment until permanent.
• Other duties as assigned.
