Job summary

Austin Industrial is seeking a skilled ironworker in Clinton, IA to read blueprints and prepare materials for construction of steel frameworks. You will set up hoisting equipment, guide structures into place, and secure members by riveting, bolting or welding as required.

Responsibilities

• Reads blueprints and selects required material for construction.
• Sets up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members.
• Fastens steel members to cable of hoist, using chain, cable or rope.
• Guides structure being lifted into proper position and aligns rivet holes with corresponding holes.
• Drives drift pins through rivet holes.
• May assist in lifting, positions and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.
• Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment using plumb bob and level.
• Bolts aligned structures to keep them in position until permanently riveted, bolted or welded into place.
• Other duties as assigned.
