Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and perform higher arithmetic computations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to understand and carry out semi-complicated verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and managers.
• Ability to work under periodic supervision focused on progress of work.
• Skill in using tape measure or 1" rule.
• Ability to maintain AWS certification on 1-inch plate in flat position using welding processes.
• Ability to pass weld tests and a Steelcon Inc fitting test based on shop drawings and geometry.
• Ability to interpret cutting lists, shop orders, and drawings.
• Ability to operate a cutting torch to meet AWS specs.
• Pride in workmanship, attention to detail, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lay out, and fit metal components using blueprints while maintaining tolerances.
• Locate and mark reference lines and align parts using jacks, turnbuckles, and hoists.
• Set, fit, and erect structural assemblies and foundations.
• Install doors, hatches, brackets, and clips on structures.
• May tack weld panels and components as required.
• Operate shop machinery such as ironworkers, plate rolls, and presses.
• Follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
• Perform duties safely and in a manner consistent with SteelCon policies.
