Job summary

SteelCon Inc. is seeking a Structural Fitter to fabricate and assemble structural steel components per shop drawings and standards. You will complete SteelCon's Welder & Fabricator Training Program and work with jigs, cranes, and cutting tools in a fast‑paced shop environment.

The role requires reading drawings, precise measurement, and adherence to safety and quality procedures, with responsibility for alignment and assembly of steel structures.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and perform higher arithmetic computations.
• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and managers.
• Ability to work under supervision and set priorities for job completion.
• Proficiency with tape measures.
• Maintain AWS certification on 1-inch plate using MMA and FCAW processes.
• Pass welding and fitting tests administered by SteelCon Inc.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lay out, and fit metal components per blueprints or templates.
• Locate and mark reference lines on workpieces.
• Align parts using jacks, turnbuckles, clips, wedges, and mauls.
• Set, fit, and erect structural assemblies within tolerances.
• Install foundations and outfittings like doors and brackets.
• Tack weld panels, bulkheads, or assemblies as needed.
• Operate shop machinery such as ironworkers, rolls, presses and brakes.
• Follow instructions with minimal supervision.
• Perform other related duties safely.
