Job summary

MECO Engineering in Hannibal, MO, seeks a Structural Engineering Department Manager to lead the structural team, oversee design and analysis for bridges and municipal infrastructure, and ensure high-quality project delivery.

The ideal candidate brings a Civil Engineering degree, PE license, SE certification in Illinois, 10+ years of design experience, and proven leadership with business development and client engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• PE license required.
• SE certification in Illinois required.
• Minimum 10 years of engineering design experience.
• Ability to work independently while managing schedules and budgets.
• Willingness to engage in business development and client outreach.
• Availability to attend meetings and events outside of normal office hours.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the structural engineering department, providing technical direction and ensuring high-quality project delivery.
• Oversee structural design and analysis, with a primary focus on bridges and municipal transportation infrastructure.
• Review and approve structural calculations, drawings, and specifications, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop engineers and designers while managing workloads, schedules, and budgets.
• Support and oversee structural projects from concept through construction in coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Serve as a senior point of contact for clients, supporting relationship management and business development efforts.
• Participate in proposal development, client meetings, and industry events, including occasional non-office hours.
