Job summary
VAA is seeking Structural Engineering Interns for Summer 2027 in Minneapolis, MN. You will work with the Structural team to design systems for industrial and commercial facilities while gaining hands-on experience and mentorship from seasoned professionals.
You’ll apply classroom knowledge to real projects, participate in site visits, and develop skills in structural design, analysis, and collaboration across disciplines.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Sophomores and juniors are encouraged to apply.
- Interest in structural design and how buildings and industrial facilities come together.
- Curiosity, a positive attitude and a willingness to jump in and learn.
Responsibilities
- Assist with structural calculations, analysis and design.
- Help prepare drawings, plans and details for real client projects.
- Gain experience with structural engineering software and design tools.
- Learn about steel, concrete and other structural systems.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers and other VAA disciplines.
- Participate in project meetings and site visits.

We are hiring three Structural Engineering Interns for Summer 2027.

Take what you're learning in the classroom and put it to work at VAA. As a Structural Engineering Intern, you won't spend your summer on the sidelines. You'll work alongside experienced engineers, contribute to real projects and see how structures are designed to support the facilities that feed, fuel and power our world.

Your Role
Ready to see structural engineering beyond the textbook? You'll work with VAA's Structural team to help design the systems that support complex industrial and commercial facilities - while learning how engineering decisions take shape in the real world.
You’ll have opportunities to:
