Job summary

SmithGroup's Detroit office is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to join our team this summer. You will work on integrated architecture and engineering project design teams, performing basic modeling in Revit and helping produce structural documents.

An ideal candidate has completed at least sophomore year or graduate standing in a structural/civil engineering program and has coursework in structural engineering, with some experience in Revit and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications

• Sophomore year completed or graduate standing in an accredited structural/civil engineering program with emphasis on structural engineering by the time of the internship.
• Relevant coursework in structural engineering.
• Some experience with Revit and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Work on integrated architecture and engineering project design teams.
• Perform basic modeling assignments in Revit and produce structural engineering documents.
• Compile data and prepare design solutions.
• Assist in editing technical specifications.
• Participate in design meetings.
• Receive mentorship from experienced engineers.
• Visit construction site(s) and/or completed project sites.
