Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking Engineering Interns in Dallas, TX to apply standard engineering techniques and assist lead engineers on diverse projects across market segments. Responsibilities include data entry, documentation, and presenting solutions while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.

ABET accreditation is preferred; prior internship and active campus involvement are valued. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are required, with proficiency in MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or related field.
  • ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
  • Pursuit of Master's degree in Structural Engineering from an accredited program strongly preferred.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data.
  • Present solutions to concerns.

  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Description

Our Engineering Interns are responsible for performing tasks requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures. This includes standard design of engineering systems, correcting and updating designs, assisting lead engineers with various project duties, and other duties as assigned. Specific assignments and project work vary depending on the market segments. Please see below for information on each market:


Global Facilities

The Global Facilities group is responsible for the planning and design of manufacturing facilities, district energy systems, data centers and mission-critical facilities. This includes work across diverse industries, including aerospace, space and defense, food and beverage, life sciences and technology, consumer products, healthcare and advanced manufacturing, guiding projects from site selection through startup.



  • Assist with tasks that may include filing, scanning, data entry, documentation, Power Point presentation.


  • Assist with responses to general questions.
