Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Engineering Intern in Fort Worth, TX. The role involves applying standard engineering techniques to assist design work, update drawings, and support lead engineers on various project tasks. Construction market assignments will vary with ongoing projects.

The internship emphasizes communication, problem solving, and developing engineering knowledge within a team-based environment. Schedule is full-time and relocation/travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field from an accredited program required.
  • Or, currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education program in a field related to the work done in the department required.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with standard engineering techniques and procedures for design tasks.
  • Support lead engineers with project duties and update designs as needed.
  • Contribute to multiple market-specific assignments in Construction.

Description

Our Engineering Interns are responsible for performing tasks requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures. This includes standard design of engineering systems, correcting and updating designs, assisting lead engineers with various project duties, and other duties as assigned. Specific assignments and project work vary depending on the market segments. Please see below for information on each market:

Construction

The Construction group is responsible for construction phase services in the design-build process and support for safety and health, estimating, pre-construction, field operations, quality and project management. This includes multiple project execution approaches, including self-perform, multi-subcontractor, construction only and program management.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field from an accredited program required.

  • Or, currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education program in a field related to the work done in the department required.

  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
