Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Engineering Intern in Dallas, TX. You will perform tasks applying standard engineering techniques, assist lead engineers, and update designs as part of a collaborative project team.

Specific assignments vary by market, with the Global Facilities group focusing on manufacturing facilities, data centers and mission-critical facilities. Strong communication, leadership, and self-motivation are valued as you gain real world experience.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program related to the department work.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
  • Prior internship or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Active campus/community involvement and strong communication skills.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without future sponsorship.

This includes standard design of engineering systems, correcting and updating designs, assisting lead engineers with various project duties, and other duties as assigned.

Our Engineering Interns are responsible for performing tasks requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures. This includes standard design of engineering systems, correcting and updating designs, assisting lead engineers with various project duties, and other duties as assigned.

Specific assignments and project work vary depending on the market segments. Please see below for information on each market:

Global Facilities

The Global Facilities group is responsible for the planning and design of manufacturing facilities, district energy systems, data centers and mission-critical facilities. This includes work across diverse industries, including aerospace, space and defense, food and beverage, life sciences and technology, consumer products, healthcare and advanced manufacturing, guiding projects from site selection through startup.

Qualifications
  • Pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from a recognized, accredited program.
  • ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
  • Currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education and/or technical certificate program in a field related to the work done in the department.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.
