Job summary

North Wind Group in Huntsville, Alabama is seeking an Engineering Intern for a temporary part-time role. The intern will work under supervision of senior engineers, performing routine tasks to learn the practice of civil and structural engineering.

The position emphasizes learning different project components, applying basic engineering principles, and contributing to the preparation of drawings, calculations, and reports.

Qualifications

• Working toward a bachelor's degree in Structural/Civil/Electrical Engineering or related undergraduate degree is required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.
• Ability to learn quickly and apply engineering principles to projects.
• Proactive in asking questions and following directions to complete tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform calculations, prepare schematics, BOMs, and engineering specifications; update design drawings in CAD/Revit.
• Instruct drafters to turn designs into structural drawings.
• Assist in evaluations, reports, analyses, and designs for facilities and projects.
• Prepare permit applications and assist with calculations and report writing.
• May assist in IT related systems and project management tasks.
• Review submittals and RFIs; assist with coordination among teams.
