Job summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking a professional structural engineer with a focus on renewable energy and nuclear-related projects for our Lenexa, KS team. The role emphasizes design of buildings, foundations, equipment platforms, and pipe racks within North American codes.

The candidate will perform static/dynamic analyses, prepare documentation, and ensure compliance with QA and regulatory standards while collaborating across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
• PE registration in at least one state.
• 5–10 years of structural engineering design experience in the nuclear, conventional power or industrial building sectors.
• Experience in nuclear sector is an asset.
• Knowledge of North American design codes: IBC, ASCE7, ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ACI 318, ACI 349, AISC360, AISC N690.
• Seismic design/analysis experience is a must.

Responsibilities

• Perform as individual contributor with minimum supervision from senior engineers and managers.
• Perform static and dynamic analyses using software tools (ANSYS APDL, SAP2000, GT Strudl, Staad Pro, LS-Dyna).
• Design buildings and foundations, equipment platforms and pipe racks.
• Prepare quantities, cost estimates, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and Kiewit Nuclear Solutions QA.
• Interface with designers and other disciplines; review drawings before sealing.
