Job summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our expanding team. The role focuses on designing buildings, foundations, equipment platforms and structures for nuclear and industrial projects across North America.

Responsibilities include leading technical teams, performing static and dynamic analyses, ensuring regulatory compliance, and mentoring junior engineers while collaborating with multiple disciplines. Relocation/travel up to 25% may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering; Master’s is an asset.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration in at least one state.
• 12–15 years of structural design experience in nuclear/conventional/industrial sectors.
• 3–5 years of nuclear sector experience preferred.
• Deep knowledge of mechanics of materials, structural behavior and FEM applications.
• Experience with North American design codes: IBC, ASCE7, ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ACI 318/349, AISC 360, AISC N690.
• Familiarity with US NRC regulations and DOE requirements.
• Seismic design/analysis experience is mandatory.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to travel <25% for business/training.

Responsibilities

• Perform as an individual contributor with minimal guidance from leadership.
• Lead teams of engineers and mentor junior staff.
• Perform static and dynamic analyses using industry tools (ANSYS, SAP2000, GT STRUDL, STAAD Pro, LS-Dyna).
• Design buildings, foundations, equipment platforms, pipe racks and related structures.
• Prepare quantities, cost estimates and project documentation.
• Ensure compliance with QA programs and regulatory codes.
• Support design, FEED, detailed engineering, procurement and construction activities.
• Interface with designers, other disciplines and stakeholders for multidisciplinary reviews.
