Job summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join the Design Engineering team in Lenexa, KS (with potential for other U.S. locations). This role leads structural analyses, designs buildings and foundations, and mentors junior engineers.

Required 12–15 years in nuclear/conventional power or industrial sectors, PE license, and proficiency with ANSYS, SAP2000, GT STRUDL, STAAD Pro, and LS-Dyna. Travel up to 25% and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering required.
• PE registration in at least one state is required.
• 12–15 years of structural engineering design experience in nuclear, conventional power or industrial buildings.
• Deep knowledge of mechanics of materials, structural behavior and finite element methods.
• Familiarity with US design codes including IBC, ASCE7, ASME BPVC is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform as an individual contributor with guidance from managers.
• Lead teams of engineers and provide mentorship on the job.
• Conduct static and dynamic analyses using ANSYS, SAP2000, GT STRUDL, STAAD Pro or LS-Dyna.
• Design buildings, foundations, equipment platforms and pipe racks.
• Prepare quantities, cost estimates, and project documentation.
• Ensure compliance with NRC/DOE requirements and QA procedures.
• Support multi-disciplinary reviews and interfaces with designers.
