Job summary

BETA Group, Inc. in Norwood, MA invites applications for its 2027 Summer Internship – Structural Engineering.

This program offers hands‑on experience on real structural projects with a team of engineers, planners, and scientists in a collaborative environment. As an enrolled civil engineering student, you will contribute to design and analysis of bridges and culverts, support projects across design and construction phases, and gain practical skills through field visits and inspections.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in civil engineering, or related field.
  • Understanding of general engineering theory and concepts.
  • General working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or other CAD platform.
  • Proficient in the use of current technology (i.e., tablets, smart phones, laptops, etc.).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong technical aptitude with an eagerness to learn.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets; and perform asset inspections.
  • Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow).
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
