Job summary

Ingalls Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is seeking a structural engineer to analyze and develop specifications for metals, composites and related systems used in naval ships. The role requires ABET-accredited engineering degrees and relevant tool experience for design and assessment tasks.

You will work on damage tolerance, durability analysis, and modeling, using industry software to support product design, fabrication and maintenance for combat and support vessels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university and 2 years of experience.
• Master of Science degree or above in Engineering from an ABET accredited university and 0 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite materials for product design and operation of structures, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Assesses damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling; analyzes dynamics, loads, stability, fatigue and thermal aspects.
• Utilizes tools such as CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer, ShipConstructor, Navisworks, AutoDESK Nastran, FEMAP and related software.
