Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Structural Engineer – Level 2 in Promontory, UT to join the NASA Integration Design team. You will aid in hardware design for rocket motor components, coordinate with NASA and cross-functional teams, and contribute to assembly and integration standards for critical spaceflight hardware.

This role supports development and qualification testing, leverages CAD and analysis tools, and requires the ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace with 2 years of professional experience or Master’s degree with 0 years.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
  • Strong CAD skills with GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis and drawing preparation.
  • Understanding of large assemblies and their impact in design and processing.
  • Knowledgeable of Siemens NX and ANSYS or ABAQUS.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in hardware design of flight and static test hardware for rocket motor components.
  • Contribute to major design activities and coordinate technical efforts.
  • Create designs for future rocket motor assembly components and their integration with other subsystems.
  • Develop engineering drawings and specifications to define design for hardware fabrication; write test plans and reports.
  • Oversee testing for development and qualification of flight hardware products.
  • Provide engineering support for the SLS/Artemis build down at Kennedy Space Center.
