Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks a Structural Engineer – Level 2 or Level 3 in Magna, UT to aid development of composite rocket motor cases and related hardware. Position involves major design and analytical efforts with Siemens NX and ABAQUS/CAE, and a 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off.

Responsibilities include performing finite element analyses, creating drawings, and supporting fabrication and testing. Security clearance required for certain roles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with 2+ years of experience (Level 2) or Master’s with no experience.
• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years (Level 3) or Master’s with 3 years or PhD with 1 year.
• Ability to obtain/maintain U.S. Government Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support composite rocket motor case production with technical insight and justification.
• Perform closed-form and finite element structural analyses for flight hardware and dispositions.
• Use Siemens NX CAD and ABAQUS/CAE as primary tools.
• Create drawings and specifications for hardware fabrication; write test plans and support testing.
• Use in-house codes with FEA to analyze rocket motor case products.
• Perform 2D/3D structural analysis for flight hardware and test articles using NX and ABAQUS.
• Learn and maintain standard design processes.
• Other duties as assigned.
