Job summary

Harley Ellis Devereaux (HED) in San Diego is seeking a licensed Structural Engineer with 4-8 years of experience to lead design on California projects, including DSA and healthcare. You will supervise the structural design and documentation for projects of increasing complexity, coordinating with architects, MEP engineers, and civil consultants.

You will perform structural analysis using RAM, RISA, ETABS, and Enercalc, develop drawings and reports, mentor junior staff, and help shape innovation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering or similar from ABET/EAC accredited institution
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California
• 4-8 years of structural engineering experience
• Proficiency in Revit (core) preferred
• Proficiency in RAM, RISA, ETABS, Enercalc or similar
• Thorough knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, NDS/SDPWS, TMS 402
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
• Clear communication abilities for working with internal teams, consultants, and clients
• Demonstrated leadership in delivering coordinated and technically sound structural solutions

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and documentation for building projects of moderate to large complexity
• Conduct structural analysis using RAM, RISA, ETABS, Enercalc
• Develop drawings, calculations, and specifications
• Mentor junior staff and coordinate with architects, MEP, and civil consultants
• Lead design meetings, client presentations, and coordination sessions
• Perform construction administration including site visits, RFIs, and submittals
• Ensure compliance with codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360)
