Job summary

NAVFAC Pacific invites journey-level Structural Engineers to join our team and support MILCON and facility projects for the Navy and allied commands.

As a Structural Engineer you will perform analyses, prepare designs and specifications, review designs from A/E firms, and verify construction complies with contract documents.

Federal employment requires U.S. citizenship, ability to obtain a SECRET clearance, and suitability determination; a valid driver's license is also required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizen aged 18 or older at time of hire.
  • Males must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • Background check and fingerprinting for federal employment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and prepare designs and specifications for facility projects using structural analysis software.
  • Assess structural condition of facilities and develop recommendations for repairs/modifications.
  • Prepare technical written and oral correspondence to communicate designs and objectives to management, staff, and customers.
  • Review structural designs from in-house, A/E firms, or Design-Build firms for adequacy and sound engineering practice.
  • Ensure structural aspects are constructed in accordance with contract plans and specifications.

We are currently looking for experienced, journey-level Structural Engineers to join our dynamic team and make a lasting impact.

Our Structural Engineers provide independent, timely, and professional structural engineering products and services, consultation, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities for the Navy, Marine Corps, and other supported Commands. You will be working on a variety of special projects and critical military construction (MILCON), and be involved in the demolition, maintenance, space utilization, and development of facilities.

As a Structural Engineer, you will:

  • Perform structural analysis and prepare structural designs and specifications for a wide range of facility projects using structural analysis software.
  • Assess structural condition of facilities to develop recommendations for necessary repairs and modifications.
  • Compose technical written and oral correspondence to communicate designs, plans, and objectives to management officials, staff, and customers.
  • Review structural designs of projects prepared by in-house designers, Architect/ Engineering (A/E) firms, or Design-Build firms for completeness, technical adequacy, functional design, and sound engineering practice.
  • Ensure that the structural aspects of the project are constructed in accordance with contract plans and specifications.

Highly Desirable: Registered Professional Engineer and 4-10 years of Structural Engineering Design experience

Key Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Valid Driver’s License

  • A US Citizen aged 18 or older at time of hire
