Job summary

NAVFAC Pacific is seeking journey-level Mechanical Engineers to join our team and execute cutting-edge infrastructure projects for the Navy and supported Commands. You will work on HVAC, plumbing, energy systems and industrial processes across MILCON facilities.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will lead cradle-to-grave design, manage internal and external teams, draft SOWs, review submittals, and provide construction-phase support to ensure safe, compliant and efficient facility systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship and Selective Service eligibility required.
  • Federal employment suitability and background check will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in-house mechanical design for shore facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, energy systems and industrial processes.
  • Direct and oversee multi-disciplinary projects with internal teams and external A/E firms.
  • Draft Statements of Work (SOW) and QA reviews on A/E submittals; act as COR.
  • Provide construction-phase support by reviewing submittals, RFIs, and site visits.

We are currently looking for experienced, journey-level Mechanical Engineers to join our dynamic team and make a lasting impact.

Our Mechanical Engineers provide independent, timely, and professional structural engineering products, services and consultation, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities for the Navy, Marine Corps, and other supported Commands. You will be working on a variety of special projects and critical military construction (MILCON), and be involved in the demolition, maintenance, space utilization, and development of facilities.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will:

  • Lead in-house mechanical design (cradle-to-grave) for diverse shore facilities, specializing in HVAC, plumbing, energy systems, and industrial processes.
  • Direct and oversee multi-disciplinary projects, managing both internal design teams and external Architectural/Engineering (A/E) firms.
  • Draft Statements of Work (SOW), perform QA reviews on A/E submittals, and act as the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).
  • Provide construction-phase support by reviewing submittals, resolving RFIs, and conducting site visits to tackle field issues.
  • Lead design charrettes to define project requirements and build conceptual designs for complex, large-scale facilities.
  • Apply industry standards and building codes to ensure all mechanical designs are safe, compliant, and highly efficient.

Highly Desirable Experience: Registered Professional Engineer and 4-10 years Mechanical Engineering Design experience

Key Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Clearance
  • A US Citizen aged 18 or older at time of hire
  • Males registered or exempt from Selective Service www.sss.gov
  • Determined suitable for federal employment (process includes a background check and fingerprinting)
