Job summary

NAVFAC Pacific seeks experienced Fire Protection Engineers to design, analyze, and oversee fire protection systems for Navy, Marine Corps, and other commands. You will prepare drawings, RFPs, and project specifications for MILCON and facility projects, and work with architects and engineers to ensure seamless integration of life-safety systems.

Key requirements include a engineering degree, a SECRET clearance eligibility, and US citizenship.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Clearance.
  • A US Citizen – 18 years or older at time of hire.
  • Male applicants must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • Background check and fingerprinting required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform design analysis and prepare detailed drawings, RFPs, and project specifications for diverse facilities.
  • Use fire protection software for hydraulic calculations, fire/smoke modeling, and egress analysis.
  • Collaborate with architects and multi-discipline teams on DB/DBB projects.
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews and site visits to ensure compliance with plans.

We are currently looking for experienced, journey-level Fire Protection Engineers to join our dynamic team and make a lasting impact.

Our Fire Protection Engineers provide independent, timely, and professional structural engineering products, services and consultation, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities for the Navy, Marine Corps, and other supported Commands. You will be working on a variety of special projects and critical military construction (MILCON), and be involved in the demolition, maintenance, space utilization, and development of facilities.

As a Fire Protection Engineer, you will:
  • Perform design analysis and calculations for fire protection projects and prepare final detailed working drawings, comparative cost analysis, Request for Proposals (RFPs), and project specifications for a wide variety of facility types such as housing clubs, maintenance shops, dining facilities, administration buildings, command and control centers, hangars, medical facilities, towers, and waterfront/harbor structures.
  • Utilize industry-standard fire protection software for hydraulic calculations, fire/smoke modeling, and egress analysis.
  • Collaborate with architects and multi-discipline engineering teams on both Design-Build (DB) and Design-Bid-Build (DBB) projects to ensure seamless building system integration.
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews and site visits to ensure life safety and fire protection systems are installed in strict accordance with contract plans and specifications.
Highly Desirable Experience:

Registered Professional Engineer and 4-10 years Fire Protection Engineering Design experience

Key Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Clearance
  • A US Citizen - 18 or older at time of hire
