For more than a century, The Manufacturers Equipment Company (MECO) has served the brick and construction aggregates industries with equipment, engineering expertise, and custom solutions for material handling and processing applications.
Based in Middletown, Ohio, MECO works with customers and leading equipment manufacturers throughout North America to solve real-world challenges in industrial facilities. Our projects bring together structural engineering, material handling equipment, fabrication, and field installation—giving our engineers the opportunity to see their work move from an initial concept to a completed project.
MECO is looking for an Engineering Manager / Structural Engineer to lead structural engineering efforts and help deliver custom solutions for our customers.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving problems that don't always come with a standard answer. One project may involve designing a new conveyor support structure or equipment platform, while the next may require figuring out how to install new equipment within an existing plant that has been operating for decades.
You'll perform structural analysis and design for steel structures, equipment supports, connections, and foundations while working closely with our designers, customers, equipment manufacturers, fabricators, and installers. You'll also provide technical direction to the drafting and design team and have the opportunity to help shape the tools, standards, and processes used by MECO's engineering group.
Your projects will include a variety of structural and industrial applications, such as equipment support structures, access platforms, conveyor structures, foundations, structural modifications, and equipment retrofits.
You'll develop structural models and calculations, determine appropriate design loads, design structural steel members and connections, and work with reinforced concrete foundations. You'll review drawings and coordinate the structural design with equipment and project requirements.
Because many MECO projects involve existing industrial facilities, you'll also spend time in the field documenting existing conditions, taking measurements, evaluating structures, and developing practical solutions when the existing conditions don't quite match the drawings—or when drawings don't exist at any.
Beyond individual projects, you'll provide technical guidance to the drafting and design team and contribute to the continued development of MECO's engineering standards, calculation tools, software workflows, and design practices.
We're looking for an engineer who is comfortable taking ownership of a design, working through incomplete or evolving project information, and communicating effectively with both technical and nontechnical project partners.
You'll need:
MECO offers the opportunity to take meaningful ownership of engineering projects and work directly with the people who design, supply, fabricate, install, and operate the systems you engineer. You'll work across a variety of projects rather than being limited to one type of structure or one phase of the design process.
Benefits include:
If you enjoy structural engineering, industrial environments, and the challenge of turning real-world constraints into practical designs, MECO offers an opportunity to make a direct impact on projects from concept through installation.
