Job summary

Civil and Environmental Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Structural Engineer for our Manufacturing Infrastructure Services (MIS) team in the Pittsburgh, PA office.

You will design structural systems for industrial facilities across markets including manufacturing, energy, and real estate, applying codes and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. We offer a hybrid work model, ownership opportunities through an employee-owned firm structure, and a path toward leadership and project management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline is required
  • 1+ years of experience on industrial/manufacturing structural projects
  • EIT certification or ability to obtain certification within one year preferred
  • Understanding of industry codes and standards (ACI, AISC, AISI, ASCE, AWS, MBMA, SDI, SJI)
  • Ability to travel (estimated travel time is 10%)
  • AutoCAD and Revit experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Apply structural engineering codes and standards in the analysis and design of structural systems
  • Analyze and design buildings, building foundations, equipment foundations, steel structures, and miscellaneous structural systems supporting industrial, manufacturing, commercial, energy, and infrastructure projects
  • Evaluate and design modifications to existing structures and facilities
  • Conduct structural analysis using various structural engineering software programs such as STAAD, TEDDS, RISA and SP-MATS for the design of buildings, building foundations, equipment foundations, masonry structures, and miscellaneous concrete and steel structures
  • Prepare structural calculations and details of structural elements for various materials, primarily steel, concrete, and masonry
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Coordinate structural design requirements and project criteria with architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, process, and other project disciplines

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline is required
  • Previous intership preferred; 1+ years of experience working on various structural projects with an emphasis on industrial/manufacturing projects
  • EIT certification or ability to obtain certification within one year preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of industry codes and standards (ACI, AISC, AISI, ASCE, AWS, MBMA, SDI, SJI)
  • Ability to perform field/site visits
  • Ability to travel (estimated travel time is 10%)
  • AutoCAD and Revit experience is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam and Navisworks
  • Understanding of applicable structural engineering codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318, and relevant industrial design practices
  • Experience working with AutoCAD is a plus
