Job summary

Valid8 Financial, Inc. in Houston, TX seeks a Structural EIT who will work under the supervision of a Senior Engineer to assist on plans and designs for structural projects such as bridges and transportation structures.

You will use general structural engineering concepts, perform basic calculations, and help in preparing designs, drawings and reports, while coordinating with other disciplines and potentially engaging in field activities.

Qualifications

• EIT certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Basic understanding of general concepts of design
• Proficient in MS Office Suite
• Basic understanding of Microstation and any other relevant design software
• Knowledge of calculations performed by software
• Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and communicate concepts effectively
• Ability to create and interpret sketches and drawings
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university with emphasis in Structural Engineering
• Position will primarily be office-based; may require some field work

Responsibilities

• Assist on plans and designs of structural engineering projects such as bridges and other transportation structures under close supervision of a Senior Engineer
• Apply knowledge of structural engineering concepts through investigation and analysis to support projects such as bridges and tunnels
• Perform basic calculations to analyze and design structural components using company software
• Assist in preparing structural designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports
• Verify compliance with codes and engineering standards and practices
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines under direction of a Senior Engineer
• Provide support during construction including submittal reviews and RFIs
• Perform field work related to construction activities as required
• Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff
