Job description

Job Title: Structural Drafter / Designer

Reports to: Engineering Manager

FLSA: Non-exempt Status: Full Time

Summary

This role is a Truss and Structural CAD Designer in our Design Division. The position is responsible for the generation of multi-family designs of uplift and hold down systems for wood framed structures. From initiation of each project, through design and finally field installation, the Truss and Structural CAD Designer is fully involved. The ideal candidate has experience working with structural components of vertical systems and understands anchorage, tie-down assemblies, load paths, and connection detailing.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Use AutoCAD and Revit to create shop drawings for wood frame multi-family construction project submittals.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of shear wall and roof truss design.
• Create and maintain 2D drawings in AutoCAD and 3D models in Revit.
• Interpret engineering calculations and translate them into constructible drawings.
• Work with structural engineers and their staff on getting approval of shop drawings for construction.
• Serve as a secondary point of contact for customers relating to inquiries about designs and field installations.
• Organize, coordinate and manage each assigned project through completion.

Qualifications:

• Introductory to expert skill in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Understanding of roof truss design components.
• Experience with wood frame, multi-family design/drafting.
• Varied level of understanding of construction methods of structural components including construction fasteners, anchors, hold-downs, tie rods, embed plates, and connection hardware.
• Estimating experience preferred.
• Must be able to read and comprehend Structural, Architectural and Truss layout plans.
• Proficient with Microsoft Programs (Outlook, Excel, Word).

Salary: Pay Rate for this position is $20.00/hr. to $35.00/hr. depending upon experience.
