Electro Mechanical Industries, Inc. - EMI is a steel fabricator serving various industries including railroad, oilfield, telecommunication, government, aerospace, and wastewater. We specialize in designing and fabricating a variety of steel products such as telecommunication towers and mounts, solar platforms, heavy equipment platforms, structural skids for oilfield, data centers, and other industry-specific products.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position for a Structural Drafter based in Houston, TX. The Structural Drafter will create shop drawings, technical drawings, and assembly drawings, interpreting concepts into 3D models for fabrication using SolidWorks software.

Responsibilities include modifying existing designs or creating new ones. Daily tasks may include:

1. Designating part numbers and creating design input folders for assemblies.
2. Producing sales drawings for customer feedback on preliminary concepts.
3. Creating quote drawings and BOMs for estimating purposes.
4. Developing fabrication drawings for non-outsourced parts within assemblies.
5. Performing redline revisions as requested by the lead structural drafter.
6. Collaborating with other departments to ensure optimal sourcing and manufacturing.
7. Occasionally meeting with customers to discuss design details and provide solutions.

Qualifications

• Proven skills in shop and technical drawings.
• Experience in structural design.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and relevant software.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Knowledge of industry standards and codes.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Associate's degree in Drafting or related field.

Physical Demands

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. in the shop.
• Competence in using standard measuring tools.
