Job description

Computational Designer- Structural

Walter P Moore has an immediate opening for a Computational Designer. In this role, the Computational Designer will focus on developing and applying advanced digital workflows and data-driven strategies to enhance project delivery processes. The role involves working across structural engineering teams on complex projects and collaborating with digital practice leaders to advance firm-wide digital initiatives.

This position is based in our Dallas office. Occasional travel to Dallas may be required if the candidate is located elsewhere. The listed locations are preferred, but candidates from other locations will also be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and deploying digital workflows via code and visual scripting
  • Assist in developing BIMs and model-related deliverables
  • Develop, communicate, and maintain scripting and modeling standards for structural engineering project teams
  • Identify opportunities to improve project delivery through technology and data-driven processes
  • Create visuals for client and team communication to inform design decisions
  • Maintain online documentation of digital practices across the firm
  • Collaborate with project teams to plan digital implementation specific to each project, including analysis, design, documentation, fabrication, and construction models
Qualifications & Required Skills
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering with emphasis on Structural Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in a designer role
  • Understanding of BIM processes, parametric modeling, computational design, and interoperability
  • Proficiency with Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, Revit; familiarity with Rhino.Inside, Tekla Structures, Adobe Creative Suite, Power BI, ETABS or SAP2000 is preferred
  • Programming experience with Python, C#, JavaScript; knowledge of Git and collaborative coding is a plus
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, including visual communication through data visualizations, diagrams, and 3D renderings
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build partnerships
  • Excellent time management skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Client-service oriented with multitasking abilities
Additional Information

This is a hybrid position combining in-office and remote work. Candidates should be able to commute or travel periodically to the Dallas office. A one-time $1,000 home office setup stipend and a $50 monthly stipend are provided.
