Job summary

Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) seeks engineering interns in Jefferson City to perform structural design computations, create drawings, and support bridge-related projects under supervision.

You'll work with AASHTO LRFD code references, maintain data, and assist with load-rating and inspections as needed. Strong teamwork and a willingness to learn are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Must be a team player and willing to ask questions.
• Must be currently enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program full-time (12+ credit hours); for engineering candidates, program must be ABET-accredited. Must possess, and maintain, an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher out of 4.0.
• Must have completed at least 30 credit hours. High school or other postsecondary program credits must be shown to be accepted by the current program through a degree transcript to apply.

Responsibilities

• Uses engineering software, spreadsheets, or performs design computations to develop bridge design aids.
• Develops spreadsheets for limited scope design tasks.
• Reviews AASHTO LRFD code articles and compares with policy guidance.
• Reviews history files for data collection.
• Assists Bridge Management with bridge load-rating, NBI data, and special rating projects.
• Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.
