Job summary

Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) invites applications for a highway designer located in the St. Louis District Office in Chesterfield, MO. Responsibilities include designing projects, performing computations for plans, and preparing reports under supervision.

The role requires ABET-accredited engineering coursework, a minimum GPA of 2.0, and at least 30 credit hours completed. Candidates will use CADD and other software to develop plan sets, engage with land surveys for easements,

Qualifications

Enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor's degree program; ABET-accredited engineering program.
Must possess, and maintain, an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher out of 4.0.
Must have completed at least 30 credit hours.

Responsibilities

Design highway projects including bridges and resurfacing; prepare reports and environmental statements.
Determine highway design features and quantities using CADD and other engineering software.
Assist in development and review of detailed plans for complex projects (interchanges, urban, major bridges).
Compute quantities and estimate costs across project stages from preliminary to final.
Collaborate with a Professional Land Surveyor to plot land lines and easements.
Address public concerns via correspondence, calls, emails, and meetings.
Ensure designs comply with current standards, policies, specifications, and practices.
Provide leadership, coaching and training as needed; perform other duties as assigned.
