Qualifications

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Design Engineer with hands-on experience in rail transit infrastructure projects in New York. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in structural analysis and design of transportation-related structures and familiarity with local transit authority standards and codes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform structural analysis and design for rail transit projects including:
• Stations
• Platforms
• Retaining walls
• Canopies
• Track support structures
• Bridges and ancillary facilities
• Prepare structural calculations, design drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, geotechnical, MEP, and architectural teams.
• Ensure designs comply with:
• NYCDOT, MTA, LIRR, or NJ Transit standards
• AASHTO and AREMA guidelines
• New York City Building Code
• Review shop drawings and contractor submittals.
• Provide support during construction administration and respond to RFIs.
• Conduct site visits and inspections as required.
• Assist in project scheduling, cost estimation, and technical proposal preparation.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 4–8+ years of experience in structural design.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in rail transit or transportation infrastructure projects in New York.
• Strong knowledge of:
• Structural steel and reinforced concrete design
• Load combinations and seismic design
• Foundation systems
• Proficiency in structural software such as:
• STAAD Pro
• ETABS
• SAP2000
• RAM
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Familiarity with MTA / NYCT design standards is highly preferred.
• PE license in New York (preferred or ability to obtain).

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working on projects with Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), or NJ Transit.
• Strong understanding of AREMA railway design guidelines.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
