Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a mid-level Structural Design Engineer to join the Design Engineering team within the Power market. You will prepare designs for power generation projects, perform calculations, and develop drawings to support construction.

The role emphasizes adherence to ABET standards, coordination with cross-discipline teams, and timely delivery of project plans and budgets. Prior power industry experience and a PE license are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• At least 5 years of experience in structural engineering and design.
• Experience in the power industry or industrial markets is preferred.
• Knowledgeable in engineering standards including ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, and IBC.

Responsibilities

• Prepare designs for assigned structure(s) including research, selection of lateral force resisting system, analysis, and drawing preparation for power generation projects.
• Apply department and industry standards when preparing calculations, project drawings, and project specifications.
• Understand and meet or exceed the requirements of EPC contracts, RFPs, and professional service agreements.
• Research new markets and adapt current processes to successfully execute project deliverables.
• Coordinate with internal and external partners including cross-discipline, construction, vendors, fabricator(s), and owners to address structural issues.
• Prepare, monitor, and update project plans, schedules, and budgets (including staffing) to project management and department management.
• Support department managers in achieving performance goals for the department.
